dark chocolate protein shake

copy cat recipe for REBBL dark chocolate protein elixir

gluten free, non GMO, vegan, plant based, soy free, (insert your own health buzzword here, you get the gist)

I’m a huge fan of this brand because it’s a great natural alternative to the fake protein shakes like Muscle Milk. These protein drinks run about $5 a bottle, and that is just too steep for me to make this a daily drink. So naturally (pun intended?) I created my own variation that is way more affordable once you invest in the protein powder. Now it cost me about $0.80 per shake. That’s more like it. I hope you enjoy!

ingredients

  • 12 oz coconut milk, unsweetened vanilla

  • 2 tbsp cacao power, unsweetened

  • 1 scoop unflavored, unsweetened plant protein powder

  • 1 tbsp ground flax seeds (for omega-3 and fiber)

  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (for hydration)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • a pinch of Himalayan sea salt

  • 1-2 tbsp agave syrup for sweetness (this is an optional step, I like mine completely unsweetened but for those of you that need to take the edge off agave, honey, or stevia are good options)

recipe

blend ingredients together until smooth, enjoy!

I like to blend a few ice cubes to make it extra chilled.

PRO TIP:

the original elixir also contains coconut MCTs, Ashwagandha extract, Maca root extract, and Reishi extract which all have amazing benefits. these are commonly sold at your local health food store or coop. if you’re like me, purchasing these extras might not be a realistic fit into your budget, which is why I don’t include them in my copy cat recipe. they are great extras but you are still getting great nutrients in the ingredients I have listed.
